Standardized information with product variety
The electronics industry is notable for its extensive and varied product portfolio. It's not rare to find a range of products containing up to 60,000 articles. Thus the requirements for presenting product information and feature descriptions consistently across data sheets, product catalogues, e-commerce solutions and technical documentation are extremely complex. Shorter and shorter product innovation cycles, the need to satisfy global markets, and the related need for multi-lingual documentation, as well as the requirement to meet mandatory standards and norms such as ETIM or ecl@ss pose further challenges for Product Information Management (PIM).
- SCHEMA's XML-based editing and content management solutions enable the creation of a central data pool containing all relevant descriptions and product information. User-friendly text editing with flexible text modules and integrated translation management makes it easy to collaboratively create and manage the modules. A high degree of process safety is guaranteed through role-based participation and through the possibility of tracking changes to content. This is further supported by the clear presentation of hierarchical and linked structures and connections between documents and product data.
- The media-independent data format XML allows for the publication of content in various target media. ensuring consistent presentation of product information for pre and post sales, in catalogues, e-shops, technical descriptions, and packaging.
- Data exchange and process management is significantly simplified by SCHEMA's interfaces with other systems in the process, making it possible e.g. for the creation of technical manuals to be managed centrally from an ERP system via the Documentation Production Center (DPC).
- The connection to XSL Formatter from Antenna House or Adobe® InDesign® allows for automated layout generation. Content and text from SCHEMA ST4 are transferred directly into the appropriate template or stylesheet, avoiding manual time-intensive and error-prone layout creation. The graphic designer can still adjust the layout whenever needed.
Using SCHEMA ST4 creates a win-win situation: Manufacturers profit from quick time to market and customers receive high-quality and consistent product information.
