MarkupKit is the tool for converting content and structure information from Word documents into syntactically flawless HTML, XML, or SGML. In addition to the converter plugin for Word, it also features a command-line version. Thus, RTF files from other wordprocessors can also be converted.
The Basic Principle
MarkupKit works on the assumption that if a large amount of text has been created, it was formatted using character and paragraph styles which are read out by MarkupKit. With the help of the configuration settings in the converter, the user can then create flawless and "clean" HTML, XML, or even SGML.
