Revenue Growth Despite Crisis Year: SCHEMA GmbH Continues Its Expansion

Press release of the cateogry Company News, on 20.01.2010

Nürnberg. SCHEMA GmbH, maker of XML-based editing and content management solutions, can look back on a positive 2009. In spite of the economic crisis last year, SCHEMA GmbH was again able to increase revenue and customer numbers. Planned earnings grew by more than 50%. Numerous well-known companies in various areas of industry chose to implement SCHEMA ST4.

SCHEMA ST4 significantly strengthened its share in its domestic market (Germany). Companies such as Steuler Anlagenbau GmbH & Co. KG, Becker Electronics GmbH, UNION Werkzeugmaschinen GmbH (with project partner itl AG), TADANO FAUN GmbH and Suttner GmbH are now SCHEMA customers. Also among our new customers are Bauer Maschinen GmbH Schrobenhausen, a major partner in civil engineering for the Burj Khalifa, and von Ardenne Anlagentechnik GmbH, the worldwide leading provider of electron beam and plasma technology in Dresden. In addition, companies Hydro Systems KG, MAN Diesel SESiemens Turbomachinery  Equipment GmbH and Müller Elektronik GmbH & Co. KG broaden SCHEMA's list of customers in plant and machine manufacturing.

With Paradigma Deutschland GmbH, ENERCON GmbH, SkySails GmbH & Co. KG and Fröling Heizkessel- und Behälterbau Ges.m.b.H, SCHEMA strengthened its presence in the area of solutions for the use of renewable energy.

Apart from sustainability, SCHEMA laid claim to another mega trend with its solutions for medical technology. Otto Bock HealthCare GmbH, DENTSPLY DeTrey GmbH and Philips Healthcare Nuclear Medicine USA have put their trust in solutions from SCHEMA.

As part of its development towards becoming an information and service company, SCHEMA now also supports PSI AG. PSI with its 1400 employees counts as one of the leading independent solution providers in Europe for process control and monitoring of complex network infrastructures for energy providers (electricity, gas, oil, heat, water).

The development of our international business activities was also extremely positive. Apart from MAN Diesel SE (Denmark), Philips Healthcare Nuclear Medicine (USA) and Fröling Heizkessel- und Behälterbau Ges.m.b.H.(Austria), Stadler Bussnang  AG   (Switzerland), die Yamagata Group (Belgium) und Tedopres International (Netherlands), are welcome additions to SCHEMA's international list of references.

The attractiveness of SCHEMA also reflects well on our partners. Never before in its company history has SCHEMA gained so many and so renowned project partners in a single year. „Especially pleasing to us is the fact that these partnerships were active from the start, and that we were able to realize projects together," comments Stefan Freisler, CEO of SCHEMA GmbH, on the cooperation with the partners.  Itl AG, DGB TetraKom, Albisa (for Spain), IlmDoc Technische Dokumentation GmbH, Tedopres International, SYSTEC, Antéa (for France) and Klopotek & Partner GmbH (for the publication industry) are new SCHEMA partners.

"In times of crisis, companies look for solutions to optimize processes and effectively minimize costs," says Stefan Freisler, adding, "In manufacturing and production, the potential for optimizing is almost exhausted. It's a different story in technical documentation and product communication. Here, reuse of existing text allows significant savings to be realized. Translation costs can even be reduced by up to 50%."

Working with SCHEMA ST4

SCHEMA ST4 allows product information and technical documentation to be created efficiently and managed easily. The XML-based editing system (for which the term "Content Component Management System" is becoming more and more established) stores the product information as individual information modules, allowing them to be reused for all further documentation. Even creating documentation as a parts list is possible: when a module is created, the user defines for which product component it is valid. For new documentation projects, the system then filters the relevant text modules according to the parts list classification.

Modularization also significantly simplifies information maintenance and control. For changes or updates, only the relevant text units have to be updated and not, as is otherwise customary, the entire documentation. At the same time, changes made once are automatically applied to all documents. For translation of the documents, sophisticated filters for and integrations with translation management technologies are included by default. Text production is thus "industrialized."

SCHEMA – Complex Documents Made Easy!

Founded in 1995 by documentation experts, this Nuremberg software company specializes in XML-based solutions for editing teams. With over 60 employees in four locations, SCHEMA implements professional systems for small and mid-size editing teams as well as solutions for company-wide information logistics. SCHEMA ST4's range of application covers such areas as technical documentation, software documentation and help systems, catalogs, labeling for pharmaceutical companies, solutions for specialized publishers, contract management and component content management. Based on the standard software SCHEMA ST4, SCHEMA's solutions utilize leading technology (.NET and J2EE) and incorporate all pertinent standards (e.g. XML, DITA, SAP R/3©). The use of technology partners and standardized interfaces allows ScHEMA to offer the optimal solution for the integration of its systems into a company's IT landscape.

Customers with SCHEMA installations include ABB, Agilent, Avalog, Bosch, Boehringer Ingelheim, Bundesanzeiger Verlagsgesellschaft, Carl Zeiss, Daimler, HMH Engineering-Consulting-Trading, InterComponentWare, Lindauer Dornier, Lufthansa Systems, MAN, Reifenhäuser, Schaeffler Gruppe, Siemens, Österreichische Bundesbahnen, Philips, STOLL, T-Systems, Voith, and Wolffkran, among many others.
